Returning to the eternal city for a visit is a dream I am contemplating. A new colourful exhibition at Maxxi Museum in Rome is celebrating the vision of futurist painter Giacomo Balla makes my dream even more enticing.
Casa Balla, the home where the artist lived from 1929 until his death, opens its doors to the public for the first time. A ‘unique and total work of art’, the house was transformed by Balla and his daughters into a kaleidoscopic laboratory of experimentation. Meanwhile, curated works from current artists and designers at the museum shine a new light on Futurism’s themes and their place in today’s world.
